  • I had that surgery done.  I had my mitral valve replaced with the Da Vinci.  it's a plus not having the chest bone sawed open but the tender area under my right arm was sore and bothered me from time to time for a year or more.  I would get puffy like fluid would fill up under my skin.  Never really got a true diagnosis as to what it was.  I was afraid it was cellulitus but the doctors didn't think that was what it was.  never really knew and it eventually stopped doing that.  also I had my aorta valve replaced 8 years prior to that surgery the old fashioned way.  other than the bone healing I thought the old fashioned way was much less painful than the da Vinci.  it seemed the robotic surgery involves damaging a lot more flesh inside.  I had a lot of fluid run out of me after the surgery for four or five days, I got a touch of pneumonia also.  really all and all the old way seemed to me to be a lot the best.
